Laurel and Daddy
Waving to Maddie
Trey, Laurel and I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon. After church and naptime, we had a relaxed lunch on our patio in the warm sunshine. Laurel played in her Exersaucer, chatting and waving to everyone, including Maddie. It was so fun to watch her interacting and showing off her new waving skills!

A Trip to Shreveport
I have been following my sister Emma's track season, since it's her senior year and my dad is in Bethesda and can't make the trips himself. He has been enjoying the videos of her races, so we keep sending them! This week, Emma's meet was in Ruston, so Laurel and I made a trip to Shreveport to stay with Trey's parents the night before her meet. Betsy was so sweet to keep Laurel while I went to the meet, and I know they had fun. It was great to see our Shreveport family. And Emma ran great times at her meet!

Silliman Track Meet
Daddy has been accepted into a clinical trial to target his cancer, and is being treated in Bethesda, MD. Unfortunately, this trial requires him to stay in MD for at least 4 months, which means he will miss watching Emma compete in her meets.
Before he left, Daddy posed for a photo, holding a sign for Emma. With Trey's help, this photo was transformed into a life-sized poster! As a surprise for Emma, I brought "Daddy" with me to one of Emma's track meets. As she geared up for her first race, I found some friends to stand with him at the finish line so I could catch her reaction on my video camera. She didn't see him until she crossed the finish line, and her surprise was priceless!
To keep Daddy updated while he's away, I created a blog of Emma's track season. You can check out the photos and video of our track star too, by visiting this blog. Go Emma!

Family Time
Laurel is such a happy baby. Trey came home from work early this afternoon, and helped me get Laurel's dinner together. While Laurel waited in her highchair, she entertained us by babbling and gesturing. She was quite sure of what she was saying...if only we spoke gibberish! It was really funny, and she was very pleased with herself. It was a great family afternoon.

Holding Her Own Bottle
Laurel has finally learned to hold her own bottle! Until this point, she has been perfectly content to let others do the work for her. I'm thrilled to have a free hand now, but still love cuddling with her during feedings.

Clapping
While we changed the sheets, Laurel played happily nearby. She got so tickled when Trey covered her with the sheets and played Peek-a-Boo, and her laughter was so precious. I caught some of her sweet giggles on tape, and even managed to capture her new trick: clapping!
