South State Track Meet

Trey, Laurel and I went to Emma's South State Track Meet for the day.

We found a great spot under an umbrella for Laurel to play.

Emma and her relay team pose with their trophy. Great job, girls!

"Flat Jimmy" as he has been affectionately called, got to hang out with Emma's team.

Trey, Laurel and I traveled with "Flat Jimmy" to cheer on Emma at her South State track meet. She and her teammates had a great meet! We had such a fun day watching Em compete, and Laurel loved all the action. We found a spot for her to play under a colorful umbrella (shade!). She was so tired at the end of the day, but it was a great adventure for her.

To find out more of Emma's meet, you can check out the blog following her season.

Laurel and Daddy

Trey finally got his table for our patio (which as been on his wish list for a while), and the beautiful weather so we can enjoy it. Today, we ate lunch outside and soaked up the sunshine. Laurel loved hanging out with her daddy, and we all enjoyed being outside!

Waving to Maddie

Trey, Laurel and I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon. After church and naptime, we had a relaxed lunch on our patio in the warm sunshine. Laurel played in her Exersaucer, chatting and waving to everyone, including Maddie. It was so fun to watch her interacting and showing off her new waving skills!

A Visit from the Cotters

Wiley and Maddie get to know each other.
Laurel is fascinated with Wiley. I mean, how is he playing with the toys on that side?

Ready for bedtime!

Our good friends, Jim and Nicole Cotter, and their sweet boy, Wiley, spent the night with us on their way to the beach. It was so much fun watching Laurel and Wiley interact together. They played so happily together, making all us parents proud! We had a great time catching up with Jim and Nicole, and were wishing we were making the trip to the beach with them! Come back and visit us soon!

I have been following my sister Emma's track season, since it's her senior year and my dad is in Bethesda and can't make the trips himself. He has been enjoying the videos of her races, so we keep sending them! This week, Emma's meet was in Ruston, so Laurel and I made a trip to Shreveport to stay with Trey's parents the night before her meet. Betsy was so sweet to keep Laurel while I went to the meet, and I know they had fun. It was great to see our Shreveport family. And Emma ran great times at her meet!

Pat-a-Cake

Bebe and Mimi came to visit for a quick trip, and Laurel loved seeing them. She lights up when Bebe walks in the room, and usually goes right to her. On this trip, Bebe spent time with Laurel, teaching her how to clap for Pat-a-Cake, and practicing her "So Big" skills. Laurel loves these games, and it was really fun watching her catch on. Thanks, Bebe, for all of your entertainment!

Silliman Track Meet

"Daddy" waiting at the finish line of Emma's first race.

My dad is such a huge fan of track, and has been a fantastic support for all of his children, attending as many meets as he could manage over the years and keeping track of all of our times and our progress. This year is Emma's senior year in high school, and her final track season.

Daddy has been accepted into a clinical trial to target his cancer, and is being treated in Bethesda, MD. Unfortunately, this trial requires him to stay in MD for at least 4 months, which means he will miss watching Emma compete in her meets.

Before he left, Daddy posed for a photo, holding a sign for Emma. With Trey's help, this photo was transformed into a life-sized poster! As a surprise for Emma, I brought "Daddy" with me to one of Emma's track meets. As she geared up for her first race, I found some friends to stand with him at the finish line so I could catch her reaction on my video camera. She didn't see him until she crossed the finish line, and her surprise was priceless!

To keep Daddy updated while he's away, I created a blog of Emma's track season. You can check out the photos and video of our track star too, by visiting this blog. Go Emma!

Family Time

Laurel is such a happy baby. Trey came home from work early this afternoon, and helped me get Laurel's dinner together. While Laurel waited in her highchair, she entertained us by babbling and gesturing. She was quite sure of what she was saying...if only we spoke gibberish! It was really funny, and she was very pleased with herself. It was a great family afternoon.

Holding Her Own Bottle

Laurel has finally learned to hold her own bottle! Until this point, she has been perfectly content to let others do the work for her. I'm thrilled to have a free hand now, but still love cuddling with her during feedings.

Clapping

While we changed the sheets, Laurel played happily nearby. She got so tickled when Trey covered her with the sheets and played Peek-a-Boo, and her laughter was so precious. I caught some of her sweet giggles on tape, and even managed to capture her new trick: clapping!

Always a Lady

Our little Laurel loves to cross her feet, whether she's sitting in her high chair, playing with her toys, or even sleeping. She even had her feet crossed in every ultrasound I had while I was pregnant with her! She's such a little lady!
